Weather, and how the weather will affect your flight is one of the most important aspects of paragliding. We will only fly if the weather conditions will provide for a safe and enjoyable flight for you. For tandem flying, we prefer to fly in light to moderate winds of just a few miles per hour up to around 10-15 miles per hour. The direction of the wind will determine which site and which launch we use.
At Tiger Mountain, in Issaquah, we will use the North launch for North to Westerly winds. We will use the South launch for Southerly winds. At Fort Ebey. on Whidbey Island, we prefer Southwest to Northwest winds of about 8-15 miles per hour. Temperature will not affect how a paraglider flies, it will however affect how comfortable you are while in the air. It's important you dress warmly. When you try a tandem paragliding flight with Northwest SkySports, we will explain with you all of the elements of the weather that affect your flight. For flying at Tiger Mountain in Issaquah, we look at the weather conditions for nearby Renton, WA. For Flying at Fort Ebey on Whidbey Island, we look at weather conditions for nearby Whidbey Island Naval Air Station.
